Day Nine 9/26/19
Review: Today we were missing a piece the had been using, which actually turned out to be a new "challenge". the students had been making the marble jump off the end, so today they had to come up with a different plan. they determined that they still wanted to make it stop at the end. however, they wondered it they could make it bounce back on the track and roll backwards without the ramp to make the incline at the end.

They decided to build a tunnel and make the start of the ramp higher. They encountered the problem of the marble getting stuck in the tunnel, so they had to make some adjustments and troubleshoot why the marble was getting stuck. They determined the track had a gap which they needed to close. so, they decided to move the tunnel to a continuous portion of the track so they could adjust it if the ramps moved without messing up the tunnel.

There was a wet floor sign in the hallway. They decided to add it to the ramp as another tunnel. This was actually pretty smart because they had to determine if it was high enough for the marble to pass through without stopping. that prompted them to check other arches they were using to ensure the marble could pass through without stopping. Again, they tested various speeds by adjusting for height and using different starting points for the marble.

For the first time, our ESL friend use the words "ball" and "marble" saying "let's try the ball" "who has the ball?", and asked if the marble was a ball? "Is this ball or marble?" He also said the words "roll" and "fast".

I tell them tomorrow is our last day. They were sad to hear this, but were excited to have one more day to play and try out another "challenge'.
