Today is our last day. The schedule had been altered that day in the classroom so everyone was a little off focus. After a short time they started building using some new ideas. today was about speed and length of the track. they had an idea they wanted to test. They tried making the track long and adjusting the elevation using blocks. They used they bodies as the arches and watched the marble roll through seeing where it stopped with each block they added. eventually, the marble rolled the the entire length of the track and bounced back off the blocks placed at the end. We were only able to work about 15 minutes, but they were still excited about the new discoveries and "challenges" they came up with on their own. the baskets were gone so they decided to use blocks at the end like that had in the beginning. this created opportunities for the marble to bounce off the blocks and roll back in the other direction. They were excited by this.
They quickly cleaned up and each gave me a hug.

This is my favorite! Three made the "bridge" and one rolled the marble. they took turns giving each person an opportunity to be both the bridge and the marble holder.
No one got upset when it fell. they simply fixed it and continued playing.
